OKM Glossary

A sarcophagus is a large coffin, typically made of stone, with inscriptions and usually associated with ancient Egypt, Rome or Greece.

The large, magnificent coffins and sarcophagi can be found in burial chambers in crypts, temples and pyramids. They serve as a final resting place for high-ranking personalities, who were usually buried together with valuables and riches.
