The Rover C II is still one of the most successful metal detectors used by many treasure hunters. Recently one of our customers sent us pictures and information regarding an astonishing coin treasure he found in Morocco.

A great advantage of our 3D ground scanners is the possibility of a preliminary graphical data analysis. Therefor OKM supplies its proprietary Visualizer 3D software for all its 3D metal detectors.

Copper coins from 11th century

Our customer used the software to analyze the 3D ground scans and so he identified some interesting signals. Backed with the knowledge of the object's position and depth, he started digging. In a depth of about 1.63 meters (5.24 feet) the treasure hunter found what he was looking for: numerous copper coins from the 11th century.

The age of the coins could be determined very easy. On many of these coins were inscriptions: "480 Hijri". According to our calculation of times "480 Hijri" equates the 11th century.

Based on the amount of copper coins you can call this hoard an outstanding treasure find.

Ferrous fragments of a meteorite

The 3D ground scanner or 3D metal detector can not only detect buried treasures but also other hidden objects as our customer and owner of Rover C II did.

Utilizing the operating mode Magnetometer allows the user to survey large areas for ferromagnetic objects. The result of his research were fragments of meteorites, often referred to as black stones. A very characteristic feature of these black stones is its melted surface. This typical black or dark brown fusion crust is a result of great heat that changes the meteorite fragments while entering the earth's atmosphere (frictional heat).
